The Griffin (DC Comics)

This six issue prestige-format mini-series from DC Comics tells the story of Matt Williams, a teenager who leaves his family and planet behind to become a warrior for an alien race in exchange for super-powers. After a 20-year absence, Matt returns to Earth, but things are not the same as when he left. The world has moved on including his family and friends and the fiancee he left behind. But his personal problems are the least of his worries when the aliens come after him and he must defend his planet against his former masters. 

Written by Dan Vado and co-created by Norman Felchle who illustrated the series.  Matt Wagner provided the painted covers.
